Move over “big brand burger joints!”

There’s a new player in town & it means business – big business – because it just won “Best Burger Bar” in the Restaurant & Catering Association Awards for QLD & NT!

Owned by entrepreneurs, Michael McShane & Warren Parkes, “Burger Institute” is one of two in Brisbane, one in Forest Lake and the other being at Milton.

Less than a year old, the Burger Institute has bolted from left-field to capture the attention of the Award Judges & the attention of a fast-growing fan base of fussy burger foodies.

And the big bonus for the burger restaurants is that they attract a wide range of ages, from youngsters through to seniors.

Co-owner, Michael McShane, says “we’ve been overwhelmed with the response of Brisbane people. Both our Forest Lake & Milton restaurants are at capacity most lunchtimes & evenings.

We get told by customers that our burgers are the best burgers they’ve ever tasted, so we must be doing something right in the kitchen”.

When asked what makes their burgers so different, co-owner, Warren Parkes says “all our burgers are truly chef-inspired. In other words, our burgers are all about texture, taste, crunch & flavour combinations.

We’ve carefully selected our chefs, all of whom appreciate our strict adherence to healthy, tasty works-of-art when it comes to burgers.”

McShane adds “We make all our own sauces & dressings in-house, our ingredients are super-fresh, we roll our own MSA grain fed Angus beef patties & we slow-cook our pulled meats in-house for 12 hours. We’ve had our 3 choice bun range created just for us, support boutique local beer suppliers and have created a funky, friendly & vibrant restaurant environment. We certainly did our homework!”

It’s very clear when you talk to these enthusiastic owners that “quality, freshness & goodness” are top priorities when making their burgers.

And given the Restaurant & Catering Association Award committee also took into consideration “customer service & restaurant presentation”, it’s clear that these guys have ticked the boxes when it comes to creating the complete restaurant package.

Parkes says with a grin, “Our aim is to ensure that every guest enjoys a great burger & a memorable “experience”. It’s our job to over-deliver with our food, shakes, environment & customer service & I guess we’re doing very well, given this wonderful award we’ve just won.”
